I have to admit that I am not usually a big fan of hidden object games. I find them too often frustrating and hard on the eyes. Having said that, I have been completely enchanted by 'Neverland'. Firstly, Neverland has a magical, intriguing, and actually, quite a dark story, concerning a young woman who, as a child, could enter a magical, kaleidoscopic, kingdom of toys. As she grew older her powers vanished, but suddenly she finds herself drawn to this magical land once again, only to discover that something has changed, and a sinister mystery must be unravelled and the lost toys rescued. The first thing to mention about this game is that it is very atmospheric, the whole feel of the game is otherworldly and draws you right in to it. The most outstanding thing about the game is its absolutely beautiful, anime style artwork. I found it almost Ghibliesque in the way it immerses you so compeltely in a whole other world. The the story, unfolding in an animated series of frames is beautifully executed and extremely expressive. I would play this game for the art, story and atmosphere alone! The gameplay itself is not atypical of the genre, you are presented with a list of objects to find, but the scenes are really lovely and colourful to look at, rather than the mundane and dingy environments some hidden object games present to you, and the genuine desire to see the next section of story keeps you motivated. Also the sense that you can truly interact with your environment is heightened because the toys, after a time, begin to move about and talk to you. You can also drag toys around to find power-ups hidden behind them. This ensures that there is enough help available should you start to get frustrated, but more seasoned searchers can ignore the power-ups amd go it alone should they wish for a greater challenge. In addition to the main game mode there is also a projector mini-game which, although there's not a lot to it, is fun and beautiful anyway. The bouncing, dancing toys just tap into the primal cuteness trigger in my brain! So, if you love hidden objects games I'm sure you will love Neverland, and even if you don't I think this one might be the one to get you hooked!

lots of things going on at the same time - it could be a little distracting whilst trying to find the main objects - overall the game was very good - especially the music - children might be more observent than us wrinkleys (ha ha)
